Cue new headcanon:  This little exchange was actually kind of a slip-up for Jim.  Like he tries to keep it professional most of the time, he really does, but when he’s emotionally/physically exhausted for some reason, he’s prone to moments like this.  To losing his filter and just freakin’ hitting on Spock like there’s no tomorrow.  Oops.

Spock looks like he got all dolled up just in case this happened.
